One of my favorite scriptures I have found while being in the mtc is Alma 32:28 and it says " Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me." I loved this verse. I think of the seed as my testimony, If we nourish the seed it will grow but without nourishing it the seed can begin to die. Like our testimonies without us strengthening our own testimonies we can't grow to our full potential.
I'd like to bear testimony that God loves all of you. He knows all of you by name. I know the book of mormon is true, I cannot deny that. One of my favorite quotes from elder holland is " For 179 years this book has been examined and attacked, denied and deconstructed, targeted and torn apart like perhaps no other book in modern religious history—perhaps like no other book in any religious history. And still it stands. Failed theories about its origins have been born and parroted and have died—from Ethan Smith to Solomon Spaulding to deranged paranoid to cunning genius. None of these frankly pathetic answers for this book has ever withstood examination because there is no other answer than the one Joseph gave as its young unlearned translator. In this I stand with my own great-grandfather, who said simply enough, “No wicked man could write such a book as this; and no good man would write it, unless it were true and he were commanded of God to do so.” I know that the only way you can know if it's true is TO READ IT! I know the power of scripture study has strengthened my testimony.
I am so grateful for my awesome friends. They have set such a great example for me over the last couple years! Here's a few pics. Love you all and see you next email!!
