God's Name...

Hello Everyone! This week was super good! A Lot of crazy awesome stuff happened this week!

To start off we made a facebook post in a local group about service and we had SO many people reach out to us and ask for help and just thank us for what we do. It was awesome! So literally everyday this week we had a service project! We cleaned a pool, laid soil, trimmed bushes, painted, and then about 7 hours of basically tearing up someone’s lawn and moving all their grass to an area behind their house. We used a super cool machine that would cut the grass in the front yard like pieces of sod. That was a struggle and it’s also 83 and 90% humid outside right now! I got a real nice sunburn that’s for sure!

Yuli!!! This is awesome! We finally got in contact with her! We went to her house painted with her, invited her to read Alma 37 and then she said to call her the next day. We call her and honestly the chapter was perfect and she loved the chapter and the same verses I love from it! It was super cool. It went perfect with the lesson and then felt prompted to invite her to be baptized, she accepted and we set a date for her in June! She wanted to wait a little bit because she wants to get baptized with her daughter who is being taught by the missionaries in Spain! The spirit was super strong in the lesson and definitely lead the whole thing!

We were making calls last night to all the people we are teaching. It was 9 but we wanted to make one more phone call so literally just scrolled through our contacts and called a random number who answered and immediately told us he was doing bad. He was super closed and didn’t want to talk but we finally got him to open up by me telling him my spanish is bad ahah, but from there it was awesome! We started talking for a sec then he tried bashing me and asked me what’s God’s name and I did nothing more than bare my testimony.  I think it softened him a little bit because we talked to him for a bit longer and then got a return appointment! We will see what will happen…(Anyone got any bashing tips?? jkjk)

We had Zone Conference this week! It was a lot of fun! It was a multi zone conference so I got to see a lot of people I served with! Then yesterday we had the opportunity to go to Beaumont for an all spanish members sacrament meeting. WITH… Elder Rascon the area seventy!! This dude is so spiritual. And his words are just as powerful in spanish as they are in English! He reminds so much of Elder Holland. I have heard from him at a Zone Conference and talked about him in one of my past emails. After the sacrament meeting he came up to the missionaries and stared us deeply in the eyes and shook each of our hands. Then told us he wants to talk to us in private. We went into some room and he talked to us for like 5 minutes and basically just told us how it is. What the mission is, the importance of what we are doing, and bore one of the strongest testimonies I've heard. Almost made me tear up hahaha. One thing he said in his talk is with the spirit in our lives we can do anything. I loved that even though it was simple because I've definitely seen a difference from when the spirit is strong and guiding me through the day compared to when I'm not listening to the promptings as well as I should.

Recently I've been studying Prayer. What is a prayer? It's obviously a way we can communicate with our Heavenly Father. I've been trying to make my prayers more meaningful. One thing I've been doing is giving him time to talk to me! And wow this is the most revelation I've been able to call revelation if that makes sense hahah. So I invite you all to leave time for Heavenly Father to talk to you and I know he will!!

Hope you guys all have a wonderful week! Love you all and shoot me an email!

Follow Me...

Hello Everyone! It’s me again! These past past weeks have been pretty good!

Start off General Conference was awesome!! Loved every bit of it! It's crazy they announced 20 new temples!! And one in cache valley!

We have been knocking doors like crazy recently and I can tell you how truly not affective it is… But I know the Lord is hastening his work in many other ways! Especially during a pandemic!

We have been struggling to stay in contact with Yuli because she works so so much. Her cousin recently passed away which was super sad to hear about and because she's been working so much we haven’t had time to talk to her because if she's not working she’s sleeping. But we are going over to her trailer to help paint this week! Keep her in your prayers for me!

José… This man fell off the face of the earth for about a week and completely ignored us. But we went over to his house to give him cinnamon rolls to see if he was there and he was! We set up a time to stop by the next day.  We brought a member with us and the lesson was super good!  We took him off date to focus more on our relationship with him because I think we were pushing too hard. But he’s an awesome guy and will be put on a date soon!

Mercedes!  This lady loves to talk hahaha! We try to make our visits 30 minutes but it always ends up way over… She also had a cousin pass away and this was super cool for me.  I had gone into the lesson thinking ok we are gonna teach her lesson 3 (The Gospel of Jesus Christ)  and put her on date! But we completely changed what we were going for and taught the plan of salvation!

I’m still here in Port Arthur and I still love being a missionary! Our branch had an activity and we got to go fishing! We caught like 6 flounder but had to put them back because they were just under 14 inches sadly. I also been asked by a few people about mexico but I still haven’t heard anything but wouldn’t be surprised if I leave here in the next couple months!

I was studying in Matthew this week and I’m just gonna share what I'm going to share on facebook so here it is!

18 ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently and have wondered how can I become a better disciple of Jesus Christ. In these verses it says they dropped their nets and followed Him.  I think of the nets as things preventing us from "following him". This also made me think about what I would leave behind to follow Jesus Christ, to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ. We need to be able to drop our "nets" and follow Him no matter the circumstance. If we are sincere in our desires to follow him we can escape the things holding us back. We can find peace and happiness through our Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ!

Sorry super long email but love you guys keep being awesome and shoot me an email!
